連續統的勢

在數學領域，連續統的勢 是實數集合 ${\displaystyle \mathbb {R} }$（有時稱為連續統）的基數（或勢）。集合 ${\displaystyle \mathbb {R} }$ 的勢記做 ${\displaystyle |\mathbb {R} |}$ 或 ${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {c}}}$（小寫哥特體字母 C）。作為基數， ${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {c}}}$ 等於貝特一（${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {c}}={\beth }_{1}}$）。如果連續統假設成立，那麼 ${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {c}}}$ 等於 阿列夫一（${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {c}}={\aleph }_{1}}$）。

康托爾說明連續統的勢大於自然數集${\displaystyle \mathbb {N} }$的勢，即 ${\displaystyle {\mathfrak {c}}=2^{\aleph _{0}},}$ 其中 ${\displaystyle \aleph _{0}}$（阿列夫零）代表 ${\displaystyle \mathbb {N} }$ 的勢。換句話說，雖然 ${\displaystyle \mathbb {R} }$ 和 ${\displaystyle \mathbb {N} }$ 都是無限集，但是實數在某種意義下比自然數"更多"。
