趙咨明識典籍，見識過人。漢獻帝初平元年（190年），董卓挾持漢獻帝西遷長安。趙咨同鄉司馬防在洛陽擔任治書侍御史，趙咨帶着全家老少與司馬朗一同前往黎陽。趙咨明帝太和年間擔任尚書[1]、後官至太常[2]。
