萬曆四十四年（1616年）丙辰科進士，天啟六年三月，刑科右給事中黃承昊疏言南京兵科給事中袁玉佩究心武事，見今兵科乏人，宜調玉佩於北垣，以備緩急。命該部酌議，隨從部復，改袁玉佩兵科給事中，著刻期到任。
