在歷史上，脫脂乳曾用於家豬培育。脫脂乳曾有「不僅僅可以培育豬類，幾乎所有的育肥需求它都能滿足」的名聲。因為脫脂乳會為家畜提供所需的大量蛋白質，同時「口感更佳」。[2]
