生平
1940年獲英國格拉斯哥大學一等榮譽學士學位。
1949年任大連大學工學院教授（現大連理工大學）。1950年代曾任上海造船學院系主任（劃歸上海交通大學）。1980年當選為中國科學院院士（學部委員）。[1]
2002年被上海交通大學授予榮譽工學博士學位，任上海交通大學船舶海洋與建築工程學院教授。
