北魏延興元年（471年）十一月，在平陵聚眾三千餘人造反，自稱晉朝後裔，年號為聖君。攻破郡縣，殺害官吏。齊州刺史、武昌王拓跋平原親自討擊，殺七人，擒獲司馬小君，送京師平城，司馬小君被斬首。
