人民日報出版社成立於1956年8月1日，由人民日報社直屬，2010年12月28日由事業單位改制為全民所有制企業[1]。出版範圍是社會科學類書籍，涵蓋黨政、新聞、歷史、文化、哲學、經濟、社會等。員工80多人，年出書800餘種，年發貨逾人民幣億元。
