爱德华·布莱思

爱德华·布莱思（英语：Edward Blyth, 1810年12月23日—1873年12月27日）是一位英国动物学家，其一生中的绝大部分时间都在印度加尔各答的孟加拉亚洲学会博物馆内担任策展人。

布莱思于1810年生于伦敦，于1841年移居至印度，并成为孟加拉亚洲学会博物馆的策展人。布莱思担任策展人后开始著手更新博物馆的目录，并于1849年出版了《亚洲学会鸟类目录》（Catalogue of the Birds of the Asiatic Society）。布莱思自己并没有进行大量的实地考察，而是从艾伦·奥克塔维恩·休谟（英语：Allan Octavian Hume）、塞缪尔·蒂克尔（英语：Samuel Tickell）及罗伯特·郇和等人手中收到鸟类标本，再根据这些标本进行研究。布莱思一直担任策展人，直到1862年身体变差而返回英国为止。布莱思的另一本有名的著作《鹤的自然史》（Natural History of the Cranes）直到他去世后的1881年那时才出版。^[2][3]
