在英国作家J·R·R·托尔金笔下的奇幻世界中土大陆里，食地虫（英语：Wereworms，或译为地蛇）是一种在夏尔极东之地出没的生物[1]，被比作龙和蛇[2]。小说对对这种生物描述甚少，仅在《哈比人历险记》里由比尔博·巴金斯提及：“……即使我必须前往极东之地的沙漠尽头，去和野生的地蛇奋战也在所不惜”[3][4]。
在《哈比人历险记》的早期草稿中，J·R·R·托尔金在描写这一段时提到了中国的戈壁沙漠[5]。学者约翰·D·拉特利夫在《哈比人的历史》里则将此关连到蒙古民间传说中的生物蒙古死亡蠕虫。
电影改编
食地虫有在2014年电影《哈比人：五军之战》中登场，它们被描绘为巨型的长虫，半兽人利用用它们来挖掘通往孤山的地下通道[6]。阿索格称之为“噬地者”（earth eaters）。
