内容
主角Kyle Hadley长期受失败和挫折打击，终日以酒精麻醉他的性恐惧心理，甚至结婚后因为不育的恐惧而拒绝与Lucy Moore生养孩子。
他的妹妹Marylee，一个内心充满热情和欲望的少女，亦因为Hadley的堕落而爱上随便的Mitch Wayne。她与情人之间的爱情很快转变成暴力，最后玩火焚身。
身体孱弱而意志力又薄弱的Hadley则与疾病及死亡相连接，象征了他对“性”的无能为力，加重了他的挫折感和焦虑，所以最后亦步向死亡。
