因为本身生活在山林间，故活动量大，相对的肌肉十分结实，甚至能够飞行，以大自然的昆虫为食。所以只是养鸡人士、鸡贩对本地一类鸡只所做的称号。其外型毛色以金黄色至红色或其他花色，大多以金黄色居多，铅色脚胫。
