刘汝贤毕业于保定速成武备学堂后，在北京政府属下为陆军军人。后来，担任北洋陆军大学教员。
1923年（民国12年）3月，任陆军军学编辑局局长。第二次直奉战争后的1924年11月，升任参谋本部参谋次长。1926年（民国15年）1月，在许世英内阁时期，署理参谋总长。
1928年（民国17年）11月，转投国民政府，被任命为参谋次长。1931年（民国20年）12月，任军事参议院参议。1936年（民国25年）1月，获授陆军少将衔。
此后，刘汝贤的生平不详。
