NH90是第一种量产的完全线传飞控直升机[5]，有两种主要型号：战术运输型直升机（Tactical Transport Helicopter，TTH）和海上适航化（navalised）的北约巡防舰直升机（NATO Frigate Helicopter，NFH）。各国为了满足自身需求多半会对各自的NH90进行不同程度的改良；NH90服役初期由于问题频发，部分国家因此延后部署NH90。

The French Senate reported in November 2012 that the French Army would be paying €28.6m/unit after France's 12% Bonn rebate, implying a price of €32.5m which is consistent with prices quoted for e.g. the New Zealand order (see NZ section). Prices are under review given the current shortfall in orders compared to what was budgeted for.
