The loosely held fingers of the right hand have been variously interpreted as suited for wielding a separately-cast lightning bolt or a separate trident.
Such as this vase in France (页面存档备份,存于互联网档案馆), in which Poseidon holds his trident below, so as to avoid obscuring the face, while Zeus adopts the same pose as the Artemision bronze.
