西固县，在甘肃省武都县西北二百二十里。汉代置羌道县；东汉因之；晋代废；北魏为石门县地；隋代以后为将利县地；元代置汉番千户所；明代改名西固千户所；清代为西固堡，属阶州；民国二年（1913年）四月，析置县，三年（1914年）6月，划属甘肃渭川道；国民政府成立，废道，直属甘肃省政府。[1]
