1949年12月，九龙区人民政府即建立了福星乡公所。1951年6月9日，福星乡公所划归第六区(袁市区)公所领导。1952年8月，第六区公所改称第七区公所，福星乡公所属第七区公所领导。1953年4月24日，福星乡公所改称长滩乡人民政府。
