同治元年，乡试中举。同治十三年（1874年），登进士，次年改会典馆协修。光绪二十五年，任都水司员外郎。光绪二十六年，任工部制造库郎中[2]。次年，任江西道监察御史。光绪二十八年，任陕西道监察御史、河南道监察御史[3]。光绪二十九年，任会试同考官[3]。后任徽州府知府[4]。
