克利福德·埃德蒙德·博斯沃思

克利福德·埃德蒙德·博斯沃思（英语：Clifford Edmund Bosworth；1928年12月29日-2015年2月18日）FBA（英语：Fellow of the British Academy），是一位英国历史学家、东方学学者，专攻阿拉伯学（英语：Arab studies）、伊朗学。

生平

博斯沃思1928年12月29日生于英格兰谢菲尔德。他的父亲克利福德·博斯沃思曾在监护委员会（英语：Board of Guardians）和养老金与国家保险部（英语：Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance）工作；母亲名叫格拉迪斯·康斯坦斯·格雷戈里（Gladys Constance Gregory）。他在牛津大学圣约翰学院获现代史文学学士学位，在爱丁堡大学获中东学（英语：Middle Eastern studies）文学硕士与研究博士学位^[1][2]。

进入爱丁堡大学前，他先在苏格兰农业部（Department of Agriculture for Scotland）工作，在那里认识了安妮特·艾伦·托德（Annettee Ellen Todd），两人于1957年9月19日结婚,后生有三女^[1]。

他在圣安德鲁大学、曼彻斯特大学、普林斯顿大学人文学中心（Center for the Humanities）有长期教职，2004年后并任埃克塞特大学客座教授。2015年2月26日，他在萨默赛特郡约维尔去世^[1]。

贡献

博斯沃思在学术期刊上发表过上百篇论文，出版十几本专著。另外，他任伊斯兰百科全书的主编，担任伊朗百科全书的咨询编辑，并撰写其中的部分文章（伊斯兰百科全书200余篇，伊朗百科全书100余篇），并为大英百科全书和大美百科全书撰写部分文章^[3]。
