咸丰八年，翻译举人。同治四年，任国子监助教。同治六年，任右赞善[1]。光绪元年，任翰林院侍讲学士[2]、满洲翻译乡试副考官[3]、日讲起居注官[2]。光绪二年，任侍读学士[2]、考试满蒙中书阅卷大臣[4]。光绪三年，任少詹事[5]；次年升任詹事[5]、内阁学士[6]。光绪六年，任翻译庶吉士散馆阅卷大臣、考试笔帖式阅卷大臣、文渊阁直阁事[7]。次年，改正白旗汉军副都统[6]、专操大臣[2]。
