邓萨尼勋爵

第18代邓萨尼男爵爱德华·约翰·莫顿·德拉克斯·普伦基特（Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany /dʌnˈseɪni/；1878年7月24日—1957年10月25日），笔名为邓萨尼勋爵（Lord Dunsany），是一名英国-爱尔兰作家，以他创作的奇幻小说出名，代表作为《精灵王的女儿（英语：The King of Elfland's Daughter）》。他一生共出版了90多部书^{[1]:29 (I.A.92)}，并在后世屡次再版。

他出生于伦敦，但一生大部分时间在爱尔兰的邓萨尼城堡（英语：Dunsany Castle and Demesne）度过。其家族头衔邓萨尼男爵创立于1439年，是第二古老的爱尔兰贵族爵位。除去写作之外，他也爱好象棋、猎狐和手枪射击。叶芝和格雷戈里夫人是他的朋友。

生平

一战时期的邓萨尼

他出生于一个世袭爱尔兰贵族家庭，是第17代邓萨尼男爵约翰·威廉·普伦基特（1853–1899）和厄内尔·伊丽莎白·路易莎·玛利亚·格罗斯夫纳·厄内尔-厄尔-德拉克斯（Ernle Elizabeth Louisa Maria Grosvenor Ernle-Erle-Drax，1855–1916）之子，在家里的昵称为“Eddie”。^[2]

他曾参加第一次世界大战，担任皇家燧发枪队（Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers）上尉，在德里驻扎。1916年复活节起义爆发后，他也曾参战，头部受枪伤^[3][4]。二战期间，他是爱尔兰陆军预备役部队和英国国民军成员，曾在肯特郡肖勒姆驻扎。

1919年像

他曾投身于爱尔兰文学复兴，是阿比剧院的主要赞助人之一，与叶芝和格雷戈里夫人等人有来往。1940年，他成为雅典大学的英文教授。1941年4月因德国入侵希腊而回国，这段经历后来出现在他的作品中。^[5][6]

1957年，他在与芬戈尔伯爵（英语：Earl of Fingall）夫妇用餐时突发阑尾炎，并因此在都柏林的医院里逝世，死后葬在肯特郡肖勒姆的教堂墓地里。
