维护

维护或保养（maintenance）的技术意义包括机能确认、服务、修理或元件更换，可能针对设备、机械、建筑物基础设施，也可能是针对工业、商业、政府及住家的必要设备^[1][2]。现代的维护会包括计划性维护（英语：planned maintenance）及预防性维护，是系统发展生命周期中的使用阶段中，为了维持设备可以使用，所进行具有成本效益做法。

机械维护

像海上运输^[3]、海上结构^[4]、工厂及设施管理产业都和设备管理与维护（maintenance, repair and overhaul，简称MRO）有关，其中包括定期或是预防性的涂料维护计划，目的是要维持及恢复钢结构上的锌镀膜，保护结构免受腐蚀、侵蚀及环境污染的破坏^[4]。

定义

道路维护

随着时代的进步，维护及设备管理与维护（MRO）的词语也慢慢变成标准。美国国防部的定义如下：^[5]

• 为了维持或恢复机能单元（英语：functional unit）在特定状态，使单元可以执行应有机能所进行的行动：例如测试、量测、更换、调整及修理等^[5]。
• 为了维持零件在可以工作的条件，或是让零件恢复其工作能力，所进行的所有行动。其中包括了检视、测试、保养、工作情形分级、修理、再制及改造^[5]。
• 让设备维持在可运作条件的所有供应及修理^[5]。
• 为了让仪器设备（工厂、建筑物、结构、接地设备、基础系统或其他财产）维持在可以持续使用的条件，在其计划用途上可达到原始（或设计）能力及效率，而进行的例行性工作^[5]。

维护和产品或是技术系统的使用阶段有密切关系，因此需导入可维护性的概念。此架构下，可维护性是指产品在I特定使用条件下，若使用所述的维护流程及资源，可以维持或恢复其应有机能的能力^[6][7]。

在像是飞机维护的领域中，飞机使用阶段的MRO（maintenance, repair and overhaul）^[8]也包括检查、重建、调整以及补充备品（英语：spare parts）、配件、原材料、黏着剂、密封剂、涂料和耗材。国际民航机的维护是指：

• 为了确保飞机的持续适航性，需要进行的任务。包括大修、检查、更换、缺陷修正、修改或修理，可能是其中一项或是几项的组合^[9]。

这个定义包括航空法规（英语：aviation regulations）要求要在维护发布文件（maintenance release document，也称为飞机返修证明，aircraft certificate of return to service，简称CRS）中说明的所有内容。

种类

设备管理与维护（MRO）领域中，基本的维护包括有：

• 预防性维护或计划性维护（英语：planned maintenance），在仪器设备损坏或是有其他问题之前，进行检测、维护及保养。
• 修正性维护，在仪器设备磨损、机能异常或是损坏时进行维修或是更换。
• 预测性维护，利用感测器来监视系统，并根据其历史数据趋势预测何时损坏，在损坏前提早维修或是更换^[10]。

建筑维护（英语：Architectural conservation）中的设备管理与维护（MRO）是指保护、恢复、修复或重建历史建筑，若有和原建物材料搭配的石头、砖头、玻璃、金属或木头，设法以这些材料重建，若是没有的话，则用聚合物技术^[11]。

预防性

预防性维护是为了避免失效、安全问题、不必要的制造成本及损失，以及节省原始制造材料所进行的维护。定期预防性维护的效果要看其参考的RCM分析（英语：Reliability centered maintenance），以及其考量费用效益的基本原则^[12]。

修正性

修正性维护是在仪器设备损坏或是误动作时进行的维护，往往是费用最高的。费用包括设备造成其他设备的损坏或是该设备其他损坏，后续的维修、更换的费用，以及生产线停线造成的损失。在修正性维护或预防性维护计划中会包括重建受侵蚀和腐蚀损坏的设备表面，或是表面处理，以传统的作法会包括焊接及金属火焰喷涂，也有可能是用热固性聚合物的工程方式处理^[13]。

预测性

近来由于感测器以及自动化技术的进步，也开始有预测性维护的产生。此作法是用感测器监控机器或是系统的重要参数，再用这些资料配合历史趋势分析，持续性的评估系统情形，并且在系统损坏之前提早告知^[10]。预测性维护会持续性的评估系统是否有可能损坏，因此一般而言其维护也会比较有效率^[14]。
