司馬徽，字德操，潁川陽翟人，漢末名士也，居荊州，清雅有知人鑒，為龐德公號水鏡，會劉備下荊州，徽薦臥龍、鳳雛二者。及曹操南征俘獲徽，欲大用，竟病卒。有徒向朗、劉廙、尹默、李譔等。
徽知荊州牧劉表性暗，不議時人，又未語人之短，與人語，莫問好惡，皆言好，有鄉人問徽安否，答曰好。有人自陳子死，答曰大好。妻責之曰：「人以君有德，故相告，何忽聞人子死，便言好！」徽曰：「卿言亦大好。」李瀚《蒙求》詩曰：「司馬稱好。」馮夢龍以為「好好先生」。
嘗有人妄認徽豬，徽便推豬以與之，後數日，亡豬者得其豬，既以豬還徽，乃叩頭自責，徽又厚謝之。
劉表子琮，往候司馬徽，遣左右問其人，徽身自鋤園，左右問曰：「司馬君在耶？」徽曰：「即是也。」左右巧罵曰：「汝何等園奴而自稱徽！」於是歸更刷頭，著衣出見琮。
