江州，即今江西九江市也，東晉置江州，轄境為江西大部，後南朝數割，使江州轄境微矣！南梁湘東王蕭繹（梁元帝）曾任江州刺史也。唐因長江流經設江州於今江西九江，因時長，尤元和十年白居易貶江州司馬著《琵琶行》，江州甚名也。《水滸傳》之江州亦此，今江西九江存潯陽樓，乃宋江題反詩之地。
