Sv. Ignác Antiochijský (* ?, † 17. október 107) zvaný Theoforos (Bohonosec alebo Bohonosný alebo Bohonositeľ),[1] bol biskup v sýrskej Antiochii a mučeník.
Informácie o živote Ignáca sú zo 4. storočia z Cirkevných dejín biskupa Eusébia. Ignác spravoval antiochijskú cirkev približne od roku 68, ako tretí v poradí po apoštolovi Petrovi a Eudiovi Antiochijskom. Za vlády cisára Trajána ho zatkli, dopravili ho do Ríma a tam v aréne bol hodený levom. Podľa tradície zomrel 17. októbra roku 107.
Po Ignácovej mučeníckej smrti boli jeho ostatky prevezené naspäť do Antiochie, kde boli najprv pochované mimo mesta. Neskôr ich cisár Theodosius II. preniesol do chrámu bohyne Tyché, ktorý bol premenený na kresťanský chrám zasvätený sv. Ignácovi. V roku 637 boli jeho ostatky prenesené do Baziliky svätého Klementa v Ríme.
Ignác cestou do Ríma napísal sedem listov - 6 cirkvám v Efeze, Magnézii, Trallii, Ríme, Filadelfii a Smyrne a 7. biskupovi Polykarpovi zo Smyrny. Rozvážne a učene v nich píše o Kristovi, o zriadení Cirkvi a o kresťanskom živote. Ako priameho žiaka apoštolov Petra a Jána ho cirkevná tradícia zaraďuje k apoštolským otcom.
Podľa neskorších legiend bol Ignác tým dieťaťom, ktoré Ježiš dal do stredu svojich učeníkov, keď ich vyzval, aby boli ako deti.
V 4. a 5. storočí sa objavuje aj svedectvo očitých svedkov o mučeníckej smrti Ignáca, toto ako aj ďalších 13 Ignácových listov sa v súčasnosti nepovažujú za autentické.
V Antiochii už v 4. storočí slávili jeho spomienku 17. októbra, v deň jeho mučeníckej smrti. V gréckokatolíckej cirkvi sa jeho pamiatka slávi 20. decembra[1] a 29. januára sa pripomína prenesenie jeho ostatkov.[2] Sv. Ignáca si uctieva tak katolícka, ako aj pravoslávna cirkev.
