Yuriy Sedykh

Soviet athletics competitor, hammer thrower

Yuriy Georgiyevich Sedykh was a Soviet track and field athlete, who took part of the hammer throw. He held the world record with a throw of 86.74 m. He won two Olympic gold medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics and 1980 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Sedykh was born in Novocherkassk, Russia.
