Tô Lâm (born 10 July 1957) is a Vietnamese politician and police officer. In 2024, he became the 13th President of Vietnam.[1] He was Minister of Public Security from April 2016 until May 2024. He is a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam.[2]

In July 2024, following the death of Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Tô became the acting General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. On 3 August 2024, he was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the 13th Central Committee, making him the top leader of Vietnam.[3]
