Raja of Perlis
He was born in Arau, Perlis and was the son of Syed Hassan bin Syed Mahmud Jamalullail and Wan Teh binti Wan Endut on the 25th of November 1920. At the age of 20-21, he married Tengku Budriah binti Almarhum Tengku Ismail and 2 years later, had a son, Sirajuddin of Perlis, who is currently the Raja of Perlis now.
In 1945 Syed Hamzah abdicated and Syed Putra was proclaimed the 6th Raja of Perlis.. In April 1960, he was installed as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong and in September, became the 3rd Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.
On the 20th September of 1965, Syed Putra, descended from the throne. He continued to be the Raja of Perlis until his death on 16 April 2000.
