This is a list of tables of the verified (validated) oldest people in the world in ordinal rank, such as oldest person or oldest man. In these tables, a supercentenarian is considered 'verified' if his or her claim has been validated by an international body that specifically deals in longevity research, such as the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) or Guinness World Records (GWR).[1]

  • The oldest man ever whose age has been independently verified is Jiroemon Kimura (1897–2013) of Japan, who lived to the age of 116 years and 54 days.[3]
  • Since the death of 116-year-old Inah Canabarro Lucas of Brazil on 30 April 2025, Ethel Caterham (born 21 August 1909) of the United Kingdom is the oldest living person whose age is validated.[4]
  • Since the death of 112-year-old John Tinniswood of the United Kingdom on 25 November 2024, João Marinho Neto (born 5 October 1912) of Brazil is the oldest living man whose age is validated.[5]
