The region has 11 districts: Gelnica, Košice–okolie, Michalovce, Rožňava, Sobrance, Spišská Nová Ves and Trebišov and 4 districts of Košice (Košice I – Košice IV, which create the city of Košice). There are 440 municipalities in the region.
