(817–1014) constituent kingdom of the Holy Roman Empire From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Kingdom of Italy (in Latin: Regnum Italiae or Regnum Italicum) is a political entity of the Early Middle Ages. It existed from 855 to 1801 in the north and center of the Italian peninsula. In this period, there did not exist in Italy a true and proper state assembly capable of imposing its authority: the title of King of Italy was almost exclusively formal, without real power, which belonged to the various local sovereigns in struggle between them.
