Jonckheere was a Belgian motor coach and bus builder. It was founded in 1881 by Henri Jonckheere in Roeselare.

History




In 1881, Henri Jonckheere started building horse-drawn carriages in the village of Beveren, near Roeselare, West Flanders, Belgium.
In 1902 Henri Jonckheere made his first luxury automobile.
In 1922, Henri's son, Joseph Jonckheere, made his first body of a bus.
In the 1930s, Jonckheere stopped making automobiles and only made bus and motor coach bodies.
In 1994, Berkhof Groep purchased Jonckheere.
In 1997, the company changed its name from Berkhof Groep to Berkhof Jonckheere Groep
In 1998 it was bought by the VDL Groep, It changed its name from Berkhof Jonckheere Groep to VDL Jonckheere.
In 2010, VDL Jonckheere, VDL Bova and VDL Berkhof were merged into one company called VDL Bus & Coach.
