Gorton

Gorton is a district of Manchester in England. It is east of Manchester city centre. Neighbouring areas include Longsight and Levenshulme. According to the 2001 UK census, 24,173 lived there. Gorton is split into two wards, Gorton North and Gorton South. The building known as Gorton Monastery is a former Roman Catholic church which has been repaired after a period of neglect and is used for other purposes.
