West Frisian Islands

The West Frisian Islands (Dutch: Waddeneilanden, West Frisian: Waadeilannen) art of the Frisian Islands. They are in the North Sea in the northern part of the Netherlands.

1. Noorderhaaks; 2. Richel; 3. Griend; 4. Rif;
5. Engelsmanplaat; 6. Simonszand; 7. Rottumerplaat;
8. Rottumeroog; Zuiderduintjes beneath last one.

They are the following:
1. Five big islands:
2. Five small and uninhabited islands:
- Griend
- Noorderhaaks / Razende Bol
- Rottumeroog
- Rottumerplaat
- Zuiderduintjes
3. Various sandbars:
- Engelsmanplaat
- Richel
- Rif
- Simonszand
- etc.
The majority of the islands and sandbars are in the province of Friesland.
Exceptions are:
- Noorderhaaks and Texel lie in the province of North Holland (most western islands).
- Simonszand, Rottumerplaat, Rottumeroog and Zuiderduintjes lie in the province of Groningen (most eastern islands).
