Luigi Illica

Luigi Illica (9 May 1857 – 16 December 1919) was an Italian writer. He wrote the librettos (stories and words) for many operas. He teamed with Giuseppe Giacosa for Puccini's operas La bohème, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly. He also wrote the libretto for Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chénier.
