Iešjávri (or Iesjavri[1]) is a large lake on the border of three municipalities in Finnmark county, Norway. It is on the Finnmarksvidda plateau. It is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Karasjok, 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of Masi, and 45 kilometres (28 mi) southeast of Alta. The lake is the biggest in the county and covers an area of 68.16 square kilometres (26.32 sq mi). It is over 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) long from north to south. It has a maximum depth of 41 metres (135 ft) and an average depth of 4 metres (13 ft). The lake is a Baltic Shield lake and flows out into the river Iešjohka, which is a tributary of the Karasjohka river.[2]
