Elmont is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located in northwestern Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States, along its border with the borough of Queens in New York City.
It is a suburban bedroom community located on Long Island. The population was 35,265 at the 2020 census. Elmont is most notable as the home of Belmont Park, a Thoroughbred horse racing track that hosts the Belmont Stakes, the third race in the U.S. Thoroughbred Triple Crown. UBS Arena, where the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League play home games, is in Elmont and next to Belmont Park.
