The art movement Düsseldorf school of painting was a group of artists who painted mostly landscapes, and who studied at, or were influenced by the Düsseldorf Academy. The academy's influence grew in the 1830s and 1840s, while the painter Wilhelm von Schadow was chief;[2] It had many American students, several of whom got connected with the Hudson River School.[3]
