Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade (17 September 1947 – 29 May 2022) was a Brazilian politician and lawyer. He was a judge on the International Court of Justice, beginning his term on 6 February 2009.[1] Cançado Trindade was a professor at Utrecht University's Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM). He was reelected to the Court in December 2017. Cançado Trindade was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Cançado Trindade died on 29 May 2022 in Brasília, Brazil at the age of 74.[2]
