Sidon or Saïda (Arabic: صيدا, Ṣaydā; Phoenician: , Ṣydwn; Greek: Σιδών; Laitin: Sidon; Hebrew: צידון, Ṣīḏōn, Turkis: Sayda) is the third-lairgest ceety in Lebanon. It is locatit in the Sooth Govrenorate o Lebanon, on the Mediterranean coast, aboot 40 km (25 mi) north o Tyre an 40 km (25 mi) sooth o the caipital Beirut. In Genesis, Sidon is the son o Canaan the grandson o Noah. Its name coincides wi the modren Arabic wird for fishery.
