Süßen is a toun in the destrict o Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg in soothren Germany. It is locatit on the river Fils 8 km east o Göppingen, near Stuttgart.

Süßen wis first mentioned wi the name o Siezun in the Lorsch codex in 1071. Großsüßen (Greater Süßen) wis at first in the possession o the coont o Helfenstein, who, in 1382 pledgit it tae the ceety o Ulm. Kleinsüßen (Smawer Süßen), on the ither haund, wis in the haunds o the faimily Pappenheim. Thay inheritit the land forrit tae the landlairds o Bubenhofen.
In frames o the Mediatization in 1802, Großsüßen wis gien tae Bavarie but in 1810 the lands wur gien back, in frames o an exchynge contract tae Württemberg. Kleinsüßen wis on the ither haund niver Bavarie land. Efter the exchynge, baith places, Groß- an Kleinsüßen wur assigned unner the Heid Office o Geislingen.
Wi the openins o the Fils Valley Railway in 1847, Kleinsüßen wis connectit tae the public transportation.
In 1933, the twa tounships, Großsüßen an Kleinsüßen wur unifeed an the dounset Süßen wis formit. The war reform in 1938 assigned the toun tae the region o Göppingen.
On 1 Julie 1996, Süßen obtained the title o toun.
In 1539 Protestantism wis offeecially introducit in Großsüßen, bein pairt o Ulm. Kleinsüßen, awned bi the Pappenheims, remained Roman Catholic.
