The emblem o Italy (Italian: emblema della Repubblica italiana) wis adoptit bi the newly formed Italian Republic on 5 Mey 1948. The armorial bearings o the Hoose o Savoy, blazoned gules a cross argent, wur previously in uise bi the late Kinrick o Italy; the supporters, on either side a lion rampant Or, substitutit bi fasci littori (literally bundles o the lictors) durin the fascist era. The emblem is uised extensively bi the Italian Government.
