Maria Amalia o Saxony (Maria Amalia Christina Franziska Xaveria Flora Walburga; 24 November 1724 – 27 September 1760) wis Queen consort o Naples an Sicily frae 1738 till 1759 an then Queen consort o Spain frae 1759 until her daith in 1760, bi mairiage tae Charles III o Spain. A popular consort, she oversaw the construction o the Caserta Pailace outside Naples an various other projects, and she is kent for her influence upon the affairs o state. Moving tae Spain in 1759, she then set about the improvements tae the Ryal Pailace o Madrid but died before its completion. Maria Amalia wis politically active an openly participated in state affairs in both Naples an Spain. She wis aa a sister o Dauphine Marie Josèphe o Fraunce (mither o the futire Louis XVI. Her first cousin wis Empress Maria Theresa. Her third son founded the Bourbons o the Twa Sicilies.
