Near the toun is an extensive deposit o rock salt. The salt shapes a muntain mass (cried Muntanya de Sal) covered bi a thick bed o a reddish-broun clay, an apparently restin on a yellaeish-grey saundstane. It is generally mair or less translucent, an muckle masses o it are quite transparent. The hill haes been wirkit lik a mine syne Roman times; pieces cut frae it hae been carvit bi airtists in Cardona intae images, crucifixes an mony airticles o a ornamental kynd.
