Øye kirke er en langkirke fra 1871 i Surnadal kommune, Møre og Romsdal fylke. Den er en del av Den norske kirke og hører til Indre Nordmøre prosti i Møre bispedømme.

Byggverket er i tre og har 300 plasser.
Omkring 1860 var det strid i Surnadal om de to sognene Øye og Ranes skulle slåes sammen til ett sogn med felles kirke på Skei. Det endte med at det skulle bygges nye kirker på begge steder. Planer om en steinkirke på Øye ble lagt bort og nytt bygg ble oppført i tømmer med tårn i bindingsverk. Den åttekantede kirken reist i 1724 ble revet i 1870 og altertavle og døpefont ble gitt til museet i Kristiansund der det gikk tapt ved bombingen i april 1940.[1]
Før åttekantkirken var det trolig en stavkirke fra middelalderen på stedet.[2][3] Kirken er nevnt i Trondhjems reformats 1589 som en lite kirke i stavverk uten tårn, men med korsarmer (som en korskirke). Før Surnadal ble eget prestegjeld i 1704 var Øye anneks under Stangvik hovedsogn. Bygget var 6 favner langt og bordkledd utvendig innsatt med tjære. Kilder fra 1600-tallet nevner en gapestokk med jern ved porten. På tinget i 1720 ble kirkebygningen beskrevet som «overmaade» brøstfeldig og til «nedfalds» slik at den ikke lot seg reparere.[4][2]
Langkirken erstattet i 1871 en åttekantkirke fra 1724.[5] Lorentz Dietrichson omtaler åttekantkirken som «tønnebygning» med langaktig form med «bugede» sider, «et slags rokoko» i trekonstruksjon.[6]
Amtmann Ove Schieldrup sørget for å bygge ny kirke i 1724 og arbeidet kostet 450 riksdaler. Fra biskop Nannestads visitas i 1749-1750 ble bygget beskrevet som en åttekantet trekirke med et «smukt» spisst tårn og steintak, den hadde prekestol og altertavle. Bygget fikk nytt tårn i 1763 og til dette oppdraget kom en spesialist fra Trondheim.[7] Døpefonten var i treskurd utført av Peder Kjørsvik fra Fræna.[2]
Hans Hyldbakk beskriver i bygdesoga bygget som en langaktig åttekant omlag som Ålvundeid kirke. En tegning i bygdesoga viser en kirke med telttak (åttekantet) og firkantet takrytter som ender i et spisst spir og uten tilbygg for kor, og med et lite tilbygg for inngangsparti. Tegningen viser vinduer i to etasjer og Hyldbakk skriver at det var lem og galleri i vest. Tauene til kirkeklokken hang ned i midtgangen.[7] Et maleri av åttekantkirken henger i våpenhuset på eksisterende bygg. Midt på 1800-tallet ble åttekantkirken beskrevet som forfallen med råttent tårn og sviktende lafting.[2]
