Valen sjukehus (tidligere Valen Sinnsykeasyl) er et psykiatrisk sykehus på Valen i Kvinnherad kommune. Sykehuset har 35 døgnbehandlingsplasser fordelt på fire poster: akuttpost, psykosepost, sikkerhetspost og sikkerhet og rehabiliteringspost. Sykehuset ble etablert som Vestlandets største sinnssykeasyl utenfor Bergen i 1910. En forutsetning for etableringen var at sykehuset selv kunne produsere strøm. Som det første sykehuset i Norden etablerte man et eget kraftverk for bruk til elektrisk oppvarming. De første tiårene var det ca. 230 pasientplasser ved sykehuset.[1] Da det stadig var overfylt ble kapasiteten i 1939 utvidet til 296 plasser.[2] Lobotomi var en utbredt praksis ved alle sinnssykehus i etterkrigstiden. På Valen brukte man elektrosjokk som narkose. Praksisen med lobotomering av psykiatriske pasienter ble avviklet på Valen rundt 1964.[3]

I 2012 ble Valemoen (1909), brannstasjonen (1909) og gravlunden (1911) fredet ved forskrift. Sykehuset hadde egen gravlund i stedet for kirkegården i bygda.[4] Valemoen var det gamle hovedbygget og ble tegnet av arkitekt Sigurd Lunde.
Konrad Lunde var overlege og direktør i 42 år. Sønnen Tjerand Lunde var direktør etter ham.[5] Olav H. Hauge var pasient der.[6]
