Tian (kinesisk: 天, pinyin: Tiān, Wade-Giles: T'ien) er en himmelgud i tidlig kinesisk mytologi. Under Shang-dynastiet ble Tian fortrengt og erstattet med Shang Di. Men senere kom Tian tilbake, om enn i en helt annen og mer abstrakt konseptuell form, og fortrengte Shang Di.
Tian opptrer i gammel kinesisk litteratur første gang en gang rundt 700 f.Kr., eller tidligere (dateringen er avhengig av alderen av skriftet Shujing). Det er ingen skapelsesfortellinger for Tian, og Shangdi blir sammenflettet med Tian i senere litteratur (og bli dyrket som et vesen i eksempelvis Himmelens tempel i Beijing).
Omfanget av sondringen (om det er noen) mellom dem er omdiskutert. Sinologen Herrlee Creel har foreslått at analyse av Shang-orakelbein viser at Shangdi hadde forrang for Tian som en guddom, og at Zhou-dynastiets forfattere erstattet begrepet Shangdi med Tian for fastholde kravet for deres forrang.
Konseptet himmelens mandat, som var meget viktig i kinesisk tenkning for legitimering av deres herskeres rett til å regjere, henger sammen med Tian.
Etterhvert ble Tian mer et upersonlig høyeste naturprinsipp.
