Synagogen i Trondheim ligger i Arkitekt Christies gate 1b, og ble innviet i 1925, i en tidligere stasjonsbygning for den gamle Throndhjem stasjon. Bygningen ble tegnet av Georg Andreas Bull og ferdigstilt 1864[trenger referanse] til åpningen av Trondhjem–Størenbanen. I 1884 ble den nedlagt som jernbanestasjon og senere kjøpt av Frelsesarméen. Det Mosaiske Trossamfund kjøpte bygningen i 1924, og etter omfattende ombyggingsarbeid ble den nye synagogen innviet tirsdag kveld den 13. oktober 1925. Samtidig ble den gamle synagogen i St. Jørgensveita nedlagt.

Under andre verdenskrig ble synagogen konfiskert av de tyske okkupasjonsstyrkene i 1941 og brukt til forlegning, og det ble gjort mye skade på interiøret. Etter en omfattende reparasjon ble synagogen igjen innviet høsten 1947.
I 1997 ble det jødiske museet åpnet i et rom i synagogebygningen. Restitusjonsfondet gjorde det mulig å utbedre bygningen, og fra sommeren 2000 ble det utført en omfattende restaurering og ominnredning av 1. etasje. Synagogen ble gjenåpnet i 2001 med bibliotek, multimediasenter og et kraftig opprustet jødisk museum.
