Gjøvdal (Gjevedal) er en tidligere selvstendig kommune i tidligere Aust-Agder fylke.

Gjøvdal var fra 1837 del av Åmli formannskapsdistrikt. 1. januar 1908 ble Åmli delt i tre og Gjøvdal, Tovdal (Lille Topdal) og Åmli ble egne kommuner. Gjøvdal hadde da 590 innbyggere.
1. januar 1960 ble Gjøvdal og Åmli slått sammen til en ny Åmli kommune. Gjøvdal hadde på dette tidspunktet 362 innbyggere.
