Bålsta er ein svensk tettstad som ligg i Uppsala län i landskapet Uppland. Det er administrasjonssenter i Håbo kommun. I 2005 hadde Bålsta 13 430 innbyggjarar og eit areal på 10,61 km².[1]
Bålsta ligg ved E18, cirka 50 km nordvest for Stockholm og 40 km sør for Uppsala.
Av Håbo kommunes 19 000 innbyggjarar bur drygt 14 500 i Bålsta; dei fleste innflytta etter 1970. Ein stor del av arbeidstakarane i Bålsta er pendlarar, hovudsakleg til Stockholm og Uppsala, men òg til Arlanda. Sidan 2001 er Bålsta endestasjon for Stockholms pen deltågs linje 35 frå Stockholm.
I Bålsta finst eit mindre kjøpesenter. Det finst òg svømmehall, ishall, bowlinghall og friidrettsarena.
I 2002 bygde Lasse Åberg eit museum i Bålsta, Åbergs museum. Det ligg på ein gamal gard i nærleiken av Väppeby gard.
Bålsta er òg kjend for biblioteket sitt. I 2006 blei biblioteket nominert til «Årets bibliotek» saman med Luleå bibliotek og Nordiska Afrikainstitutets bibliotek. Vinnar blei Nordiska Afrikainstitutets bibliotek.
Bålsta er kjend for frå og med 1995 å ha drive gjennom Skola 2000 i alle grunnskulane i kommunen, noko som blei lagt merke til i heile skulesverige, dessutan utanlands. I 2003 var det berre to kommuner der avgangselevane hadde dårlegare resultat (middelkarakter) enn i Håbo kommune. I 2004 fekk kommunen kraftig kritikk av Skolverket for mellom anna manglar i den «pedagogiske utforminga» i skulane. I 2005 og 2006 hadde avgangselevane sine middelkarakterar derimot auka. På grunn av misnøye med skulen har mange foreldre dei seinare åra engasjert seg i ein foreldreforeining.[2]
