In december 2006 werd Westerman namens Nederland uitgezonden naar de ISU wereldbekerwedstrijden in Montreal en Saquenay. Tijdens het Nederlands kampioenschap shorttrack 2006 werd hij Nederlands kampioen bij de junioren B.
